Accounting Specialist (Remote – Lafayette, LA)

Because of our exciting growth, we are hiring an Accounting Specialist. This position provides administrative support by accurately processing accounts payable and expense reports according to federal and state regulations. This position requires highly detailed and accurate collection, analysis, and data verification to ensure proper recordkeeping and reconciliation. Effectively interacts with employees and management staff, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

This position is Remote located in Lafayette, LA.

Essential Duties:

  • Follows internal accounting controls to maintain financial security
  • Strictly follows departmental policies and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy within payroll and account payable operations
  • Suggests changes to improve process efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintains organizational and employee confidentiality
  • Codes and inputs patient refunds provided by billing companies
  • Codes and inputs expense reports, verifies transaction information; obtains authorization for payment
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with third parties who assist in the day-to-day operations such as banking, auditing, tax preparation, benefits consultants, and others
  • Identifies and resolves Expenses Report discrepancies directly with employees and/or supervisors
  • Research and resolve issues specific to Expense Reports
  • Able and available to reply to requests and inquiries from employees without supervision
  • Maintains and tracks all approvals and communications within Net Suite. Keeps organized logs to ensure prompt follow-ups
  • Keeps in constant communication with accounting staff to ensure proper coding
  • Maintains email account exclusively for expense reports. Handles a high volume of requests daily from employees regarding expense report processing, status, and payments
  • Reviews expense reports to ensure that expenditures are consistent with the Core Travel Expense policy and other policies
  • Completes projects and other duties as assigned

  • Knowledgeable with accounting policies, procedures, and controls
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly articulate information

  • High school diploma


  • 2 years of Accounts Payable experience
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and accounting software
  • Experience with MS Teams preferred

  • None

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer

Work Environment:

  • Generally, a remote office setting

Work Location:

  • Remote. The employee must have reliable access to internet
  • Strongly prefer the employee to be located within proximity to Lafayette, Louisiana
