You should file the J-1 waiver application prior to the conclusion of your training. Ideally, you should not file later than six (6) months before your anticipated training completion date.

How long does the J-1 waiver and H-1B process take?

Approximately six (6) to six-and-a-half (6.5) months.

When is an appropriate time to start the Green Card process?

The process can be initiated at any time (after H-1B approval), but we recommend starting at or before the end of the initial three-year employmenet term.
