JOHN COLUMBUS, MD

Dr. John Columbus is System Medical Director for Trinity Health System.
John Columbus M.D. is originally from Connellsville, PA in southwestern Pennsylvania. After graduating from Washington and Jefferson College with a Bachelor of Art in Biology, he attended the Uniformed University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda MD. He graduated in 1987 and after completing his Internship at Andrews Air Force Base he entered Flight Surgeon training in 1988. He was assigned to Hurlburt Field Florida where he supported the 20th Special Operations Squadron from 1988 -1991. He got his first experience in leadership being assigned as the Medical Director of the USAF Pararescue School at Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque NM from 1991-1994. He developed the 1st accredited Paramedic Training Program in USAF history.
He has been a staff physician at Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, OH since 1994. He was a founding Partner in Steel Valley Emergency Physicians and has been the CEO since 2017. He has served as Chief of the Medical Staff from 2017-2018. He is the Director of Emergency Medicine and a Core Faculty Member in the Emergency Medicine Residency at Trinity. John and his group joined Core Clinical Partners in November of 2022
